Father's Day

Breakfast in bed!

Happy Father's Day to the best day (cake decorated by Ellie!)
We had a pretty low-key Father's Day this year. The kids (and I) made Dave breakfast in bed and then we went to church and hung out at the pool all afternoon! For dinner we had my parents over and made Stuffed Peppers. It was a nice relaxing day! I'm so glad my kids have such a wonderful father. We are very blessed!

Ellie is 8!!!

Wow! I can't believe I have an 8 yr old. It literally feels like yesterday we were driving down Dodge on our way home from the hospital with a newborn that we had no clue what to do with--we've learned a lot in 8 years :) We celebrated her 8th birthday with a big day! The day started with Ellie going to VBS. Then she picked Chipotle for lunch so her and I dropped Jack off at summer school and then met Dave for lunch. After lunch we headed to the nail salon for a manicure and pedicure. It is probably the 4th or 5th time she has gotten a pedi and she really loves the pampering! She had decided that she wanted to try to get get her ears pierced again (we had done it when she turned 6 but she didn't want to put new earrings in after we took the studs out so they closed up). So she decided that now she was 8 she was brave enough to do it again. So we headed back to the same place and she re-did it! She is seriously the bravest girl I know. She barely flinched when they pierced them. She said it really hurt but never made a peep! So she now has pierced ears for the 2nd time and we are hoping it's the last! After ear piercing we picked up Jack and stopped for our new favorite summertime treat---sno cones!!! Then we came home and got ready to go to dinner at our birthday tradition--Kobe! My parents and Dave's dad met us there and we had a great meal. Ellie loves to try to catch the shrimp and the kids love the big fire! After dinner we came back to our house for presents and cake. It was a fun day full of everything that Ellie likes! Happy Birthday to the most awesome daughter in the world!!!

Ellie's Dance Recital and Last Soccer Game

Saturday was a busy day for us. Ellie went from star soccer player in the morning to dancer by the afternoon! Her team had their last soccer game of the season and they played well. We are losing a few players from our team so we are sad about that but excited for another fun soccer season in the Fall. We have the end of year soccer party this week so we are looking forward to that as well! Also, last Saturday was Ellie's dance recital. I couldn't believe it when I realized this was her 5th dance recital. How can that be? I thoroughly remember her 1st recital in her red polka-dot "Minnie" costume and now she is wearing "big girl" costumes....sigh! This year she chose to take Tap/Jazz instead of Ballet. She ended up really liking it even though she likes ballet. The studio where she takes for now makes the Tap/Jazz class a little more laid back than the Tap/Ballet class so it ended up working out great! She did two dances....Stray Cats and Crocodile Rock. She had a green-black leapord-like costume complete with dance pants. She looked so grown up on stage and knew both dances very well! I love that she takes dance. I don't know that she will stick with it forever but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts because it is so fun to watch and I love what it teaches them! She was lucky enough to have her Grandma Stephanie at the recital and Grandpa Mike--this was the first recital he has been to since he just moved back to Omaha from AZ so she was excited that he would be there! Grandma Janet was still in Romania and Grandpa Joe has a hard time sitting through recitals so he stayed home this year. After getting flowers after the recital we met Grandpa Joe at Hectors for a nice dinner! Then we ended up at the snow-cone place which is our new favorite past time! All in all it was a fun day for Ellie and we are anxiously awaiting her 8th birthda (YIKES!!) coming up very soon!!!
