Brownie Bell Ringing

Great group of girls!

Loving the hot chocolate!

This year we decided to have our Brownie Troop ring bells for the Salvation Army for our holiday service project. Boy am I glad we did! Of course the weather this Fall has been gorgeous but the day we had signed up for bell ringing we were in the middle of a snowstorm---heavy wet snow and cold temps!! But the weather didn't stop us from having a blast. Most of the girls were able to come except for 3 who had prior committments. Several parents stayed and helped as well. The girls had a blast singing Christmas carols, ringing the bells and thanking the people who put money in the kettle---and boy did we raise a lot of money for the Salvation Army. Not sure what it is about a group of Girl Scouts but people were so incredibly generous. By the end people were having trouble stuffing dollars into the kettle because it was stuffed full---how cool is that!! We let the girls have breaks by going inside and walking around and then we took all the girls into the restaurant by the store we were at and got hot chocolate while a couple of parents manned the kettle! The customers at the store frequently commented on how wonderful it was that we were doing the bell ringing. It was such a great experience and so much fun for the girls that we will definitely do it again---what a great way for our troop to give back to the awesome community that we live in!
