Patriot Day

Today Ellie's school had a Patriot Day Celebration to remember 9/11 as the 10 yr anniversary is this Sunday (which I can't believe has been 10 yrs). I took Jack to school for the ceremony. It was so cool because each student got a balloon and they did a balloon release after the ceremony. So we got to see approx 650 red, white and blue balloons get released into the sky....so cool to watch (once I figure out how to post pics to this blog I will try to post a pic of the balloon release!) It was great to see all the kids dressed up in their patriotic colors participate in this awesome experience. I truly love our school. We have had a great experience so far and expect that to continue. I think it's great that they had the students involved in remembering 9/11 on a level that they could understand. I just can't believe it's been 10 yrs since that awful day. I was 10 days away from getting married at the time and all I could think about was my wedding---it really put things into perspective for me. I will try to write more on my thoughts of 9/11 when I have more time. But it sure was a cool thing to see all those balloons soar in the air and all the kids expressions as they watched them fly away......amazing!
